ESO 4: SECOND CONDITIONAL

Remember the second conditional is used to talk about ‘unreal’ or impossible things. It’s not important which clause comes first. Example:

If I had more time, I would go to the gym. (but I have no time)

If you did more exercise, you would feel better. (but I don't do more exercise)

I would call Mary if I had her phone number. (but I don't have it)

Remember you need to use a comma when you start the sentence with the if-clause.

If you use the verb to be in the past simple, we use 'were' not 'was' no matter which subject you have.

If I were you, I would try harder.

Second Conditional: exercise 1
Second Conditional: exercise 3
Second Conditional: exercise 4
