ESO4 CAUSATIVE HAVE (HAVE SOMETHING DONE)


Structure

have + object + past participle  - have something done
Get is possible instead of have, usually in informal English.

Use

  1. We use the causative when we say that someone does something for us.
    • They had their car repaired.
      The mechanic repaired it for them.
    • They repaired their car.
      They did it themselves
    • had my hair cut yesterday.
      I went to the hairdresser
    • I cut my hair yesterday.
      I cut it myself
